Our Responsibility

Kilpisjärvi Reindeer, a Sámi family-run farm, is dedicated to sustainable tourism that celebrates our rich heritage and connection to the land. Recognized with the Good Travel Seal and the Visit Finland Sustainability We are committed to conservation, cultural preservation, and community engagement.

Our Focus Areas:

1. Nature and Well-being: Rooted in harmony with nature, our family promotes biodiversity through free grazing, wildlife habitats, minimal vehicle use, and waste reduction. Visitors experience traditional Sámi life through nature-focused programs.

2. Local Cooperation : We support the local economy by collaborating with nearby businesses, using regional suppliers, and offering Sámi and local crafts. Through the Slow Food Kuusamo protocol, we emphasize clean, local food, including our own Sámi-inspired reindeer dishes.

3.Cultural Tradition: As a Sámi family, we pass down and share traditional reindeer husbandry, crafts, and recipes. Our programs and boutique showcase authentic Sámi art, foods, and stories, supporting local events to preserve and celebrate Sámi culture.

4.Inclusivity: We welcome guests of all backgrounds and abilities, with accessible facilities, adaptable meal options, and a respectful, inclusive atmosphere.

5. Future Goals: Looking forward, we aim to expand our sustainable practices by offering carbon offset options, enhancing recycling, and optimizing energy use.

Kilpisjärvi Reindeer offers an experience deeply rooted in Sámi traditions, connecting visitors with our culture and nature, and a commitment to responsible tourism.
